Welcome to the region of Morges
District de Morges

In its picturesque setting in the canton of Vaud, on the north shore of Lake Geneva, Morges enjoys views of the Savoyard Alps and Mont Blanc which can be seen from its port. Just 49 kilometres from Geneva and 15 kilometres from Lausanne, this charming little town has excellent rail connections, easy access to the A1 motorway and to the national road which runs along the Swiss shore of Lake Geneva. The new districts of Gare-Sud and L’Églantine have boosted the population of Morges over the past two years. In January 2022, the town had 17,000 inhabitants.
The region boasts a temperate climate, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 35°C in summer, and from −5°C to 5°C during winter.

It is full of places for tourists to visit all year round, and from April to October the region bursts into flower with a magnificent display of colours and scents. Independence Park plays host to the famous Tulip Festival from early April to mid-May where visitors can enjoy more than a hundred thousand tulips, narcissus and hyacinths as well as activities for all ages. From July to October more than a hundred species of flowers, including thousands of colourful dahlias, bloom along a one-and-a-half kilometre stretch of the lakeside - a delightful place to take a stroll.

Morges is the wine capital of Vaud. The "Morges" appellation d’origine is the largest in the canton, incorporating 700 vineyard owners from 38 wine-growing municipalities across an area of 620 hectares - or one sixth of the Vaud vineyards. The wine growers of the Morges region welcome visitors in all seasons to show off the delicious secrets of their wines, and even offer the chance to own a grapevine on their hillsides.

Visitors can enjoy exploring the old town, with its cobbled Grand-Rue and rue Louis-de- Savoie. These neighbourhoods are always lively, especially on Wednesday and Saturday, when there is a market, famous throughout the region for its size, fabulous produce and Parisian atmosphere. This part of the city is also its beating heart with fashionable shops, bars and restaurants, which attract locals and visitors alike and give a real boost to the economy of the region.
