Hôtel du Marchairuz at Col du Marchairuz.
An eco-friendly hotel that will make you fall in love with the mountains.
Nestling amid the peaks of the Jura mountains, with a view over the plain to the north-east of the Aubonne district, the Hôtel du Marchairuz is a welcoming cocoon that respects the environment, and is a place from which visitors can set off to explore the region all year round.
Accommodation
The Hôtel du Marchairuz offers a variety of rooms at affordable rates to meet all needs and to suit all budgets: double rooms with a double bed or two singles, family rooms, a superior triple room and two dormitories. The unpretentious, comfortable bedrooms, with mountain decor, are all equipped with en-suite showers and toilets, and those staying in the dormitories can use the showers and toilets upstairs. A hearty breakfast is included in the price of the room. Children under the age of two can stay free of charge and those aged three to nine pay a flat rate of 30 Swiss francs per night.
The Hôtel du Marchairuz also welcomes pets and they are allowed in the bedrooms (but not in the dormitory) for an additional 15 francs.
The cafe-restaurant
Serving the finest mountain fayre, the hotel’s restaurant features delicious local dishes, traditional fondues, croûtes au fromage (cheesy toast), alpine rösti, plates of cured meat, etc. You can also enjoy meat specialities, fish, shellfish and tasty desserts whipped up by the talented kitchen team using regional ingredients, according to the season. The wine list is sourced locally from the winegrowers of La Côte.
Eco-friendly water and heating
The hotel is committed to reducing its negative impact on the environment and serves perfectly filtered water in the hotel restaurant, bottled on demand, from the local water source known as Le Pré-de-Bière.
When it comes to heating, the Marchairuz hotel and restaurant is eco-friendly in more ways than one. The whole place is heated entirely by wood which comes from the balanced management of the surrounding forest by the Forestry Service. This virtuous choice of local renewable energy has many advantages, including saving on heating fuel, a significant reduction in the risk of polluting the local water source and providing support for forestry work and therefore also for local employment.
