Ecole Nouvelle de la Suisse Romande

Ecole Nouvelle de la Suisse Romande (ENSR),
A hub that prepares children and teenagers to become responsible individuals in whatever communities they may later live.

Ecole Nouvelle de la Suisse Romande

Founded by Edouard Vittoz in 1906, ENSR is a prestigious private school in Lausanne in a spectacular setting at the heart of Europe, close to the Swiss Alps, on the shores of Lake Geneva.

With nearly 550 students of various nationalities, including some 50 boarders, the school, which is over a century old, is firmly focused on the well-being and individual needs of each student.

ENSR is characterised by the energy of its teaching, its stunning environment and its innovative approach to learning, which aims to "better prepare young people for life, by making their existence less artificial and not restricting their activity to reading books". Indeed, the school encourages an awakening of curiosity and the joy of discovery rather than the accumulation of knowledge, the main aim being to furnish students with an extensive all-round education to help them to find their place in an ever-changing world and approach the future with confidence.

The skill and active involvement of ENSR's teaching staff enables each student to follow a curriculum specially tailored to their aptitudes and interests.

ENSR focuses on diversity and multilingualism to encourage interaction between students from a wide range of backgrounds. English is taught from kindergarten onwards, and high school students can opt for a bilingual English-French diploma that gives them access to Swiss and international universities. German is introduced from Grade 4, and Spanish and Latin from Grade 7. To help non-French and non-English-speaking students integrate quickly, ENSR has set up modules in "French as a foreign language" and "English as a foreign language".

The ENSR boarding school is known for its friendly atmosphere, providing a special, comfortable and familiar environment for boarders. Housed in a historic building, students have large, bright single or double rooms, allowing them to flourish while ensuring their safety and well-being.

People also love ENSR for its camps and excursions. The many sports, cultural and recreational outings on offer are an opportunity for students to spend quality time together outside the classroom. Three camps take place over the school vacations: a summer camp in the Swiss mountains, where students can improve their English and French, a windsurfing camp and a skiing camp.

The ENSR campus has all the facilities students need to develop and flourish: a tennis court, a multi-sports hall, outdoor sports fields, a climbing wall, ping-pong tables, table football, multimedia rooms, a library, creative workshops, a chemistry and biology laboratory, etc.
